New Orleans: Drowning Government in the Bathtub

Another Day in the Empire: "Isn't interesting China can move 600,000 people out of the way of Typhoon Talim and yet the United States was unable to move around 100,000 people out of New Orleans in the days before Katrina hit. Is it possible a communist dictatorship -- well, actually a globalist socialist dictatorship -- is more effective at protecting its people than the 'democratic' government of the United States? It runs against all the brainwashing the U.S. 'education' system attempted to pump into my brain since I entered kindergarten in the late 50s."

Wow!

  1. As usual you are on point. I haven't read any blogs but yours on the New Orleans situation because I have been riveted to the images that we all see on TV. I am going to write something on my own blog, but I first want to get over the initial anger, and utter sadness I feel for my people and for my country. We can get to Bagdad lickety split (in the words of the Mayor of New Orleans) but it takes us 5 days to figure out how to get to New Orleans? And other countries have offered their assistance and promise they can deploy thousands of their folk IN 24 HOURS???!!!! Bush and all his cronies should forever hang their heads in shame! I do think it is really REALLY time we assess where we are as a country. Because the whole WORLD is watching and we ain't looking good. And I agree with you-that young man is a hero. And anyone who takes any action to protect and save people is a hero. If it was good enough for Patrick Henry and his fellow "patriots", it's good enough for me. And it may be time for us to put our bodies on the line if we truly want to speak truth to power.

  3. Amen. AMEN! Reading your words, "Texad", really and truly bring tears to my eyes and heart. I'm so tired of all of the racist bullshit in this country, as I was telling "Hood" the other night! I too have the utter anger and sadness over this entire state of affairs; and what angers me the most is that these self-righteous, evil Neo-Nazicons are getting me to feel exactly the way they want me and most of us to feel, powerless to do anything about it! Damn, if I wasn't almost as poor as most of those impoverished people in N.O., I would be fucking pounding on the doors of power!
